Data sources and attribution

Every data page on LadnerBC.com is built from a source whose licence allows it, and each source is credited the way it asks. This page lists them all. Sections of the site open one at a time, so a source can appear here before the section that uses it has opened. Any page that shows data from one of these sources carries the same credit.

City of Delta open data

Used for the business directory, the community boundaries that decide which licences are Ladner's, the property parcels that tell a home-based business from a storefront, and building-permit counts on the housing page, from the City's open data site.

Credit: Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Delta.

The licence covers the data and nothing else. It grants no rights over anyone's personal information or over the City's name and crest, and nothing here suggests the City endorses this site. A business that works from a home is listed without its street address.

OpenStreetMap

Used for places and their locations: the point behind each directions link, and the website, phone number and cuisine that fill out a directory listing where the licence data has none.

OpenStreetMap data is available under the Open Database License. A list we derive from it is shared on request under the same licence. Ask through the contact page.

DriveBC

Used for the Massey Tunnel pages: road events from DriveBC's Open511 feed, and the tunnel cameras. Camera images are shown from DriveBC's own server, each credited to DriveBC with a link to its page there, and no copy is kept on this site.

The Province of British Columbia

The counterflow schedule and the tunnel replacement project are the Province's to publish. Our pages restate them in our own words and link to the counterflow page and the Highway 99 Tunnel Program site, where the current figures live.

Used for the schools pages: each school's location and headcount, from the files the Province publishes in the BC Data Catalogue.

Ladner Village Market

Used for the market's dates, read from the page where the market publishes them. The market is run by For the Love of Local Foundation with The Collective Markets; its own site is ladnervillagemarket.com.

Vendor lists, applications and everything else the market publishes are its own. Our page links to them.

Statistics Canada

Used for census figures on the housing page, under the Statistics Canada Open Licence. The page names the census each figure comes from.

Delta Heritage Register

Used as a reference for the history in place profiles. Facts are cited to the register; the wording is ours.

Written guides

Guides such as the village market and Massey Tunnel pages are written from primary sources: the operator's own pages, open government data and OpenStreetMap. Hours, admission, this year's dates and counterflow times are always a link to the organization that sets them and keeps them current.
