Please note: LadnerBC.com is a privately owned local guide with no affiliation with Westham Island Herb Farm. The farm sets its own season, hours and prices, so this page links to its site for them. The rest of this directory comes from the City of Delta's business licence register, which has no row for the farm, so LadnerBC.com added this listing from the farm's own site.
Season and hours
The farm
The herb farm is part of the family's farm on Westham Island, the Ellis Farm. The farm's history page says the family has farmed in Delta for well over a century and has been at this spot since 1916.
Its fields supply produce sold straight from the farm through the growing season, and the farm says all of it is grown by the family or their neighbours in Delta soil, or in other farm areas of BC. The shops carry locally made products as well, and the farm says it often hosts events where the businesses behind them can show their wares.
Where it is
The farm is on Kirkland Road, about 5 km by road from Ladner Village. Its own directions put it on the way to the Reifel Bird Sanctuary. Like everything on the island, it's reached over the Westham Island Bridge; our Westham Island guide covers the bridge, where TransLink posts its closures, and parking on the island.
The farm's address reads Delta, the city Ladner is part of, and its own site greets visitors to "Westham Island Herb Farm, Ladner BC."
What to expect
The farm's invitation is to "walk through my garden to see how farm produce is grown and cared for," and it calls the colourful flower and herb gardens "a sight to see." The country shops sell preserves, fresh cut flowers, bedding plants and planted flower baskets.
There's an online shop too, listing produce, fresh fruit, seedlings, honey and boxes from the farm's CSA. Orders are pick-up only, collected at the farm store and paid for there, in cash or by credit or debit card.
The farm's home page also mentions berry picking, a pumpkin patch that school classes visit, and a Day at the Farm about why local farmland matters and what it grows. Planning a commercial photo shoot? The farm asks you to get its approval first.
Hours and seasons
The farm opens for a season each year. It posts the season and its hours on its directions and location page, and its home page carries the latest notice and what's for sale. Check there before you drive over.
